Ithaca, NY – iFyber, a contract research and development organization specializing in chemistry, biology, and materials science, announced that they have added Nina Bionda, PhD, as a Senior Research Scientist. Dr. Bionda will be responsible for designing, managing, and executing research programs for clients addressing technical challenges that intersect with the chemical and biological sciences.

Dr. Bionda comes to iFyber from the University of Rochester, where she served as a postdoctoral research scientist in Dr. Rudi Fasan’s lab and developed synthesis methods for novel peptides. Dr. Bionda has a decade of experience in biological and chemical research, specifically in the analysis and characterization of activity of small molecules, peptides and proteins.

“We are excited to bring Nina aboard,” said Aaron Strickland, VP of Research and Development at iFyber, “her expertise in life sciences and assay development really strengthens our existing team. She also adds a wealth of experience in the realm of antimicrobial peptides—a fast growing and extremely applicable area of current research—that fits well with our expanding library of biofilm models.”

Dr. Bionda holds a PhD in Chemistry and Biochemistry obtained through a joint program between Florida Atlantic University and the Torrey Pines Institute for Molecular Studies under Dr. Predrag Cudic and a BS in biochemical engineering from the University of Zagreb.
